ACADEMIC FEES & SCHOLARSHIPS

Osaka University of Tourism (called “the University”) will reduce/exempt the amount of the University expenses for privately-funded international students (visa status “Study Abroad”) who are outstanding in terms of both academic achievement and personality, and who are in financial need. All international students (including those who have been selected by the designated school recommendation system) who have applied exclusively to the university and passed the international student selection examination are eligible for the reduction. The University applies this system only to the first year students.

Reductions to tuition fees are applicable for individual international students who (have a valid visa for “students visa”) and are of exceptional academic or notary level, or are currently in a financially challenging situation. All international students who have been accepted by this university for university entrance and have applied only to this university are eligible to apply. Note that scholarships for N1 students are only applicable to the first year from university entrance. Please be careful to note that 2nd year and 3rd year transferring students entering the university are not eligible for the scholarships for N2. It is necessary for applicants to go through the following procedures and have the following qualifications:
  • The proper “Application Forms” must be submitted to the university every year.
  • The moneys to be sent (apart for entrance fees and tuition fees) shall be the standard which this university sets as less than 90,000 Japanese Yen. Furthermore, if in the case there are dependents currently residing in Japan, the amount of money shall be less than that amount this university sets as its standard amount.
  • Students must attain the yearly requirement of academic units, based on the results of their academic studies. (The amount of reduction to school fees receivable may be altered down according to the number of academic units attained per year).

N1 Scholarship Students

*Exemption from tuition fees is only applicable to those students who have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency test Levels N1 or N2 or after having received a letter of acceptance from this university and having passed the Japanese Language Proficiency test level N1 or N2 in December of 2025.
*Further to and following the fees above are fees that will be collected for the support society; the student association fees and some other sundries totaling approximately 50,000 Yen.
*Visa statuses other than “Exchange Student” are not valid statuses for an application to receive scholarships. For example: Visiting Family; Permanent Residents, etc.
